easyJet establishes strict regulations regarding the dimensions, weight and objects allowed to be transported in the aircraft cabin, so we recommend that you carefully read this article dedicated to the hand luggage of this airline from low cost flights if you want to find out about it.

Below you have an index with all the points that we are going to deal with in this article.

Number of packages allowed

easyJet allow a single piece of hand luggage Per passenger. The following items are considered as a single piece of hand luggage:

  • Suitcases
  • Briefcases
  • Laptops
  • Handbags
  • Fanny packs
  • Wedding dress covers
  • Motorcycle helmets

Apart from the single piece of hand luggage, you can take the following items with you: coats, shawls, umbrellas, crutches, canes or walkers, as well as a duty free bag from the departure airport.

If they travel children on an adult's lap, they do not have the right to carry their own hand luggage, so their belongings must be placed inside the adult's hand luggage.

Dimensions and weight

There is no weight limit on hand luggage with easyJetAlthough it must fit in the hand luggage meters that the airline enables at the airport next to its check-in counters.

However, if the flight is very crowded, you may be asked to place your piece under the front seat and not in the compartments of the plane for safety reasons.

The dimensions with which easyJet guarantees that your piece of hand luggage will travel in the cabin are 56 x 45 x 25 cm. Passengers who have the easyJet Plus card and those who have paid the Flexi fare have the right to carry hand luggage with a maximum size of 56 x 45 x 25 cm, with the guarantee that they will travel with it in the cabin.

To ensure that they do not have any problems, they will have to use the Speedy Boarding option that grants them the possession of the easyJet Plus card to board before the rest of the normal fare passengers.

About the transport of liquids

easyJet allows the transport of liquids in hand luggage, as long as the different containers do not exceed the 100 ml each. Said containers must be placed inside a transparent and self-closing plastic bag, whose maximum dimensions are 20 x 20 cm.

Each passenger may transport a total of 1 liter between all the liquid containers they carry (10 x 100 ml, for example). If you transport liquids that do not comply with these restrictions, you will have to dispose of them at the security check.

These bags are usually given to you at the airport when you pass the security control, although there are airports where this is not the case. For this reason, our advice is that you get one before going to the airport, since they can be obtained in supermarkets or in any bazaar and its price is very cheap.

Prohibited items

easyJet does not allow the carriage of any of the following items, either as carry-on or checked baggage:

  • Firearms
  • Explosives
  • Gas bottles
  • Solid or flammable liquids
  • Poisons
  • Radioactive material
  • Hot drinks
  • Infectious substances, such as infected blood, bacteria, or viruses
  • Corrosive materials, such as acids, mercury, wet batteries, etc.
  • Animal or human cell specimens
  • Ink or toner cartridges for printing weighing more than 500 g

Regarding the last point about the transport of ink or toner cartridges, this restriction applies to flights departing from the UK. You can carry all the ink or toner cartridges for printing that you want as long as the total weight of these cartridges does not exceed 500 g.

Please note that easyJet does not allow animal transport alive neither in the cabin nor in the hold of the plane, except guide dogs on some routes, in which case you will have to notify the airline of your situation in advance.

Transportation of special equipment

It is not allowed to carry sports equipment in the cabin, so you will have to check it in and it will travel in the hold of the plane. For this, you will have to pay an additional non-refundable charge for each item you add.

To add sports equipment to your reservation, you will have to select the option Sports team while you book your flight online. If when you made your reservation you did not add any sports equipment and you want to do it later, you will have to do it by logging in to My easyJet or through customer service.

The transport of clarinets, bugles, piccolos, flutes, trumpets, violins and violas, as well as other musical instruments that do not exceed the dimensions of 30 x 120 x 38 cm, including the cover. Larger instruments (more than 32 kg) will be considered checked baggage.

Transportation of mobility equipment

If you will need to transport wheelchairs or other mobility equipment, you will need to notify easyJet with the maximum advance possible (at least 48 hours before flight departure), since not all airports have the mechanisms adapted for loading and unloading this type of equipment.

The airline allows a maximum of up to two mobility items per passenger without additional fees, such as wheelchairs or mobility aids, apart from the checked baggage allowance, including sports wheelchairs as well.

However, if you already carry two mobility items and, in addition, you want to carry a sports wheelchair as a third item, this will be considered sports equipment and, for this reason, you will have to pay the corresponding fee.

Finally, easyJet accepts the transport of wheelchairs powered by airtight, non-spillable batteries; however, it will not allow wheelchairs powered by spillable, leaky batteries to board the aircraft.
