History

The Paradores de Turismo network is a group of hotels in Spain that are located in buildings that have outstanding historical, artistic or cultural value. They are managed by the State through the company Paradores de Turismo de España, SA

Since 2015 we can also find hostels in Portugal. The first to be inaugurated was the Parador Casa de Ínsua, in Penalva do Castelo.

The first parador that was inaugurated in Spain was that of the Sierra de Gredos in 1928. Since then, their number has increased until reaching 95. You can not only stay there, since most have a restaurant and some are spas or spa.

In addition, you can stay in more than one during your trip through the World Heritage Cities Route or the Green Spain Route, with which you will spend each night in a different hostel.

Depending on their location and their fundamental features, these hotels are divided into three different categories:

Paradores Civia
they are located within cities, generally in the center.
Paradores Esentia
They are historical buildings such as castles, palaces or monasteries that have been adapted so that customers can stay.
Naturia Hostels
Unlike the Paradores Civia, they are located outside the cities, surrounded by nature.

The price of the paradores varies depending on the date and which one we go to, since, although they are all of good quality, there are luxury ones and, therefore, they are more expensive.

The cheapest inns have a base price of € 60 and the highest cost of € 230, but these prices tend to rise during high season.

However, on its official website you can usually find offers to stay in these hotels, such as the so-called Golden daysOffering discounts over 55 years old, or Young Getaway, which does it to people between 18 and 30 years old.

Likewise, you can purchase a gift box that includes accommodations or experiences to choose from among several paradors. There are a total of twelve different models.
