Vaccines to travel to Costa Rica
For travel to Costa Rica, as in most countries in the Caribbean and Central America, it is mandatory to apply the yellow fever vaccine for all those travelers coming from areas of risk of transmission (within the countries considered at risk we find Angola, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Ecuador, Gambia, Nigeria, and Sudan).
The presentation of the international vaccination certificate will not be obligatory for those under nine months of age, for those over sixty years of age, pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Also, for travel to Costa Rica there are also a number of recommended vaccines such as typhoid vaccine, which is recommended if we are going to visit populated areas where poor hygienic conditions and vaccinations against hepatitis A, hepatitis B and diphtheria tetanus may occur.
Finally, being a country that has had some outbreaks of diseases such as dengue and malaria, especially in the provinces of tropical areas with extensive vegetation such as Limón, it is recommended to apply these vaccines as a preventive measure.
