La Christ Church Cathedral en Dublin It is the oldest of the two medieval cathedrals in the city. It has been the seat of the Archbishop of Dublin (currently part of the Church of Ireland, Anglican) since medieval times and is consecrated to the Trinity.

It was built in 1038 by King Sigtrygg Silkbeard, Viking King of Dublin. It was one of the few Christian churches built within the city walls. Later it would be restored by the Normans and then by the English, who added Victorian lines. This has left the entire historical heritage of Ireland in architecture.

Apart from this salad of styles, the cathedral offers an interesting crypt, the largest of all Ireland. Inside the crypt you will see various historical objects. Also noteworthy in this church are its bells since at least one of them has been preserved since the XNUMXth century. There is also an exhibition of the treasures of the cathedral, including a gold plaque donated by William III in 1697.

The entry price is 6 euros for adults, 4 for retirees and 3 for students. For an additional 3 euros you can get audio guides. From September to May, the cathedral is open from 09:45 to 16:15. On Sundays it opens from 12:30 to 14:30. Between June and August, it closes at 18pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

To get there you must take the Bus 54, 50, 50A, 56A, 77, 77 or 77B. For reference, it is behind City Hall, a 5 minute walk from Trinity College in the direction of Christchurch.
