Within the national symbols of Scotland we can recognize a Royal Standard of Scotland, called as the «Rampant Lion» and that even before their union with England, the Scottish monarchs used as a symbol a banner with the same elements that make up the field of the shield. It is composed of a field of gold, a rampant lion of gules, linguado, clawed and armed with azure, enclosed in a double flowered and counterflowered trechor of gules.
