The Pontevedra festivities, like those of Galicia as a whole, are intimately linked to its excellent gastronomy and its world-famous wines. Each Pontevedra party it is accompanied by good traditional music, historical re-enactments, dances and ancestral rites of this land so given to preserving its identity.

La Feast of San Benitiño de Lérez, the “most miraculous” saint venerated since the Middle Ages, is of National Tourist Interest. Crowds of devotees flock to the site of the old Benedictine monastery where the sanctuary with the small image of Saint Benedict is currently located. on the banks of the Lérez river, in the outskirts of Pontevedra. A crowded pilgrimage in which the assistants pass under the altar and smear a finger in the oil of the lamp to which healing powers are attributed, especially against warts.

August brings the Pilgrimage Festival, big week of Pontevedra with the festivities in honor of the Patron saint of the city, Pilgrim Virgin. There are 15 days of concerts, cultural events, bullfighting fair, floral offering to the Virgin and fireworks.
Of course there are other festivals and fairs, such as the Pumpkin Fair, Medieval Street Market / Festival o Free Fair and the celebration of MidsummerThat of Nuestra Señora del Carmen.
