The people of La Palma are very happy and the island of La Palma reflected in the large number of festivities all year. To the traditional festivities of Christmas, Three Kings, Holy Week, Corpus Christi and the Patron Saints of the towns, there are some festivals worth mentioning.

All the festivals are characterized by being linked to nature, even if they are of religious origin, and therefore they join a special gastronomy and of very good taste. This is how the Puntagorda almond blossom festival in February, the Agricultural Fair of San Antonio del Monte de Garafia in mid-June, or the harvest festivities.

One of the most endearing that has been held since 1860 is the procession of the Descent of the Virgin of the Snows, patron saint of La Palma. When a great drought hit the island and, from the Sanctuary of the Mount the islanders brought out their Virgin to ask for help. Every five years the ritual is repeated, with ancient dances among which the Dance of the Dwarves, with characteristic costumes.

Carnival, in February it is the most populous of all the festivities, and in addition to all the traditional activities in the Canary Islands for the occasion, a particular talcum powder battle.

Tirajafe has a very particular celebration in the month of September, the Devil's Verbena, who prowls around the square between fireworks, until the Virgen de la Candelaria, victorious, she ends her walk.

Also in September the festival takes place in honor of San Miguel Arcangel, patron of the island, with special celebrations in Tazacorte and the traditional dance of the Fufos Horses, carried by dancers in a parade led by a giraffe.
