La March of the Volunteers (义勇军 进行曲; Yìyǒngjūn Jìnxíngqǔ) is the National anthem for the People's Republic of China (including Hong Kong since July 1, 1997 and Macau since December 20, 1999). It was writing by the poet and playwright Tian Han and composed by the Chinese composer Nie Er, who wrote it as a musical march.
The piece was first played in 1934 in Shanghai during a play. The song it became a symbol of anti-Japanese resistance and was sung by both sides during the Chinese civil war. Then the lyrics were changed, exalting the cult of personality of the time. However, the new version never caught on.
Only in 2004 was it established that the “March of the Volunteers”Would be added to the Constitution from the country. It should be noted that the original letter was taken, which does not mention either the Chinese Communist Party or Mao Zedong.
