Papagayo is one of the most privileged destinations of all those that make up the beaches of Lanzarote. El Pozo, Puerto Muelas and Papagayo are some of the busiest coves in the more than two kilometers of extension that this destination has.

Papagayo Beach

The beach

Papagayo beach is located in the Protected Area of Los Ajaches (Lanzarote natural park) and to access it we will have to pay six euros to enter our car. Near Papagayo we will find Playa Blanca - a very important tourist center of Lanzarote -, a paradisiacal destination that we can reach in less than five minutes by car from the other coves.

This white sand cove has an extension of one hundred and twenty meters, ideal for its crystalline appearance, for diving, fishing and snorkeling (its waters are turquoise, which gives it an air similar to Caribbean beaches).

Papagayo Beach

If we travel to Papagayo in summer we will have to get up early to find a good location and enjoy a moment of tranquility before the crowds begin. Most visitors arrive at this destination around eleven in the morning and it has all the ideal security measures for traveling with children.

From this beach we can see the islet of Lobos and the neighboring island of Fuerteventura, the landscape being one of its main attractions. In addition, it has the climate of the south of Lanzarote, that is, a lot of sun and little wind.

What to do

Timanfaya

After enjoying the beach we can visit Timanfaya, a national park that is located in the municipalities of Yaiza and Tinajo on the island of Lanzarote, and which was declared a National Park in 1974. This volcanic park has more than fifty square kilometers of extension and It is considered the second most important national park in the Canary Islands.

We recommend you bring everything you need to spend a day or weekend at the beach without complications since there is only one beach bar in the place where we may not find what we need and the prices are usually more expensive than in other destinations. It is important to bring food, drinks and others such as an umbrella, towels, chairs, etc.
