La Berlin Cathedral is known in Germany as Berliner Dom, is a Lutheran church located in Berlin. They are opposite the Lustgarten and the Berlin Royal Palace. This temple has never housed a Catholic bishop so it is not exactly a cathedral.
The Berliner Dom was built by order of William II between 1895 and 1905, it was designed by Julius Raschdorff. The bombings of World War II seriously affected the structure of the temple. The building was remodeled and now the upper part looks simpler than the original design.
The cathedral is beautiful and elegant, very well maintained. You will be able to observe notable works of art such as the Sauer Organ, the pulpit of neo-baroque influence and the stained glass windows designed by Anton von Werner. The altar dates from the year 1850.
Inside the cathedral you can visit the crypt with more than 80 sarcophagi where the bodies of the kings of Prussia. You can see the entire church from a viewpoint in the dome. It is a wide staircase with 270 steps that allow you to have a very beautiful view of the place. With photos to see along the way.
It is located near the Museum Island, at Am Lustgarten 1, Mitte. The hours are from Monday to Sunday from 9:00 to 20:00 and Sundays and holidays from 12:00 to 20:00.
