El Charles Bridge It is a gothic bridge that connects the old town of Prague with Mala Stranga. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the city.

It was built in 1357 during the reign of Charles IV, the Czech king and emperor of the Germanic Roman Empire. It was originally called Kamenný most (Stone Bridge), but centuries later the name changed out of habit. The architect was Petr Parléř, whose works include the St. Vitus Cathedral in the Prague Castle. The bridge has survived all the flooding of the river. The secret is said to be that egg whites were used in the mortar to reinforce the structure.

El Bridge It is 516 meters long and 10 meters wide. It is decorated with 30 statues in a row, most in the Baroque style. All this rests on 16 arches shielded against the ice and is protected by three towers, two in Mala Stranga and one in the old town. The latter is considered one of the most impressive Gothic-style civil works in the world. Both the "Malostranská věž" tower in Malá Strana, and the "Staroměstská věž" in the old town can be visited.

The best time to go is at sunset, when you can see the Prague Castle against the red sky. Of course, normally there are a lot of people circulating. If you want to walk quietly, you should go at night or very early in the morning.
