The Ruins of Teotihuacán (whose name means the place where the gods were made or city of the gods) is one of the mexican destinations more representative of what was the ancestral Aztec culture. Within the main ruins of the Aztec culture that we can continue visiting today, we have the Ruins of Teotihuacán.

The Ruins of Teotihuacán are located about fifty kilometers from Mexico City and are a reference to what was in the prehispanic era one of the main Mesoamerican cities. The Ruins of Teotihuacán are just as important as other ruins in the Aztec culture and Maya, and since mid-1987 they have been recognized as being World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Road of the Dead. Also called Miccaohtli, the road of the dead It has an extension of more than two kilometers, and extends from north to south of Teotihuacán, so it is considered as an axis within the ruins. Around the Roadway of the Dead we can appreciate some of the ancient temples in which the inhabitants of this culture paid homage to their main deities (sun and moon), finding a temple for each of these Gods at each end of the route.

The pyramid of the sun. This pyramid is dedicated to the main god of the Aztec culture: the Sun. Pyramid of the Sun It is the oldest in the area and is considered one of the largest buildings in the world. Guided tours in this area allow the traveler to ascend the pyramid and from the top to be able to contemplate the remains of this ancient citadel.

The Pyramid of the Moon. Among the oldest structures that are located in the Ruins of Teotihuacán, we find the Pyramid of the Moon. Although it is smaller than the Pyramid of the Sun, is located at the same height because it is in an elevated area of ​​the Teotihuacán territory.

Another of the attractions that we can find in the Ruins of Teotihuacán, are: Quetzalcoatl Temple, which seems to warmly welcome tourists with its predominant red color and sculptures; Y, Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent, located near the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, this pyramid was discovered in 1920 and is located on the Calzada de los Muertos.
