La Statue of Liberty It is one of the most famous monuments of New York, from the United States and around the world. It is located in the Island of freedom south of the island of Manhattan, next to the mouth of the Hudson River. Besides being an important monument in the city, it became a symbol in United States and represents freedom and emancipation from oppression.

La Statue of Liberty It was a gift from the French to the Americans in 1886 to commemorate the centenary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States and as a sign of friendship between the two nations. It was inaugurated on October 28, 1886 in the presence of the American president of the time, Grover Cleveland. The statue is the work of the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and the internal structure was designed by the engineer Gustave Eiffel.

The structure measures 93 meters (not counting the statue base measures 46). It is made of copper, and is supported by a steel skeleton. The structure is mobile to withstand strong winds. The green-gray color is the product of the oxidation of copper.

Its classic appearance is based on the Roman mythological goddess Libertas. The right foot is up and the left is in front as if it is trampling on some broken shackles. The torch represents illustration; and the stone tablet, knowledge (it reads "July 4, 1776" in Roman numerals).
