Guacamole is a typical recipe from Central America, the most popular variation being from Mexico. This dish is made up of a sauce that is based on avocado, and depending on the season of the year in which we are going to prepare it, we can accompany it with different vegetables and even fruits.

Guacamole is used in the Mexican cuisine as a spicy sauce to accompany stews, tortas molotes and the popular tacos, most of which are based on red meat. In addition, it is important to indicate that in Mexico guacamole is usually prepared in two versions, one with all the ground pulp and another with the pulp in pieces.


Guacamole (known as guacamol in Central America) has historical records from the time of the Aztecs and at that time it was considered a fruit of erotic meaning and that symbolized the testicles, therefore, women could not collect it.

For the Aztecs, the origin of this dish is in the legend that tells how Quetzalcoatl, the Toltec god, was the one who offered this recipe to his people for the first time.

  • 2 avocados

How to make guacamole step by step

  1. Peel and cut the avocados
  2. We remove the pulp and grind it in the blender (we can also use a mortar)
  3. Finely chop the onion, add coriander leaves and proceed to do the same with the tomato and chili
  4. We add all the ingredients to the crushed pulp
  5. Add a few drops of lemon and salt to taste
